World Vision is an advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential. World Vision creates various efforts in addressing the causes of poverty and injustice. By increasing understanding of poverty and injustice, World Vision seeks to promote public involvement and government policies that help alleviate poverty.

 

Cagayan de Oro City, February 19 --- Two months after Typhoon Washi has left widespread devastation in Southern Philippines, World Vision joins more than 400 Mindanao leaders, civic groups, academe and other non-government organizations in the first Mindanao Summit on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Geo-hazard Awareness. The 2-day summit proactively aims to gather all key decision-makers and stakeholders in Mindanao on a serious move to unite efforts to mitigate disasters and learn about the worsening effects of climate change in Southern Philippines. 
 

World Vision-Philippines started the new year with the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on strengthening the organization of Local Councils for the Protection of Children (LCPC).

Ernie Rose could have been out laboring in the fields or working as a servant in the house of a wealthy family like her mother. She stopped schooling during her 5th grade in order to look after her younger siblings. “I felt compelled to take care of my younger brothers when my parents were separated,” recounts 13-year old Ernie Rose. Thankfully, through World Vision’s Education for All (EFA) campaign, Ernie Rose is now back in school.

In efforts to end the cycle of violence against children in any place, World Vision Development Foundation, Inc. (WVDF) has joined the Child Rights Network (CRN), a coalition of child-focused organizations, to push for a law that would protect children from any forms of corporal punishment.
