A dramatic increase in the number of informal settlers in a Himaya coastal village has made proper waste management a problem. Many children suffer from skin diseases due to frequent bathing in the now-polluted bay. As their own concrete remedy, sponsored kids in this village initiated a community clean-up drive to advocate for proper garbage disposal.

Being a mother is already a full-time job but Nanay Victoria chose to volunteer for World Vision to help other children besides her own. The mother of six began her community volunteer work with World Vision in 1984, but soon found so much fulfillment that she expanded her volunteering activities to cover so much more. She shares the story of how her involvement changed her life, and brought her family closer together.

In her desire to provide a better life for her children, Blessy’s mother, Mardaliza landed a job far from her province. While Mardaliza is away, Blessy assumes the role of her mother at home.
 
"Since I am the eldest. I cook food, clean the house, wash clothes and study my lessons afterwards," Blessy shares. Everyday, she wakes up 5 o'clock in the morning to cook breakfast and returns home right away after school to prepare dinner for her family.

Kicking off their summer vacation, ten volunteers for World Vision came together to help kids through the summer tutorial program held in a Cavite World Vision community. About 30 World Vision kids gathered for a fun-filled time of singing, games and learning.


International pop music sensation, budding actress, and World Vision child sponsor of six kids, Charice Pempengco kicked off her first solo concert tour in Manila on March 9, 2012 treating over 80 children from a World Vision assisted community to her Infinity Tour.


FEU Tamaraw Volunteers Fight Hunger by admin, Fri, 03/16/2012 - 08:56

Far Eastern University (FEU Manila) students, “Tamaraws” as they are sentimentally and proudly called, experienced hunger like never before during the  “Do It Yourself” (DIY) 12-hour Famine. Over a hundred students were inspired to help more kids in the nation as they learned about the situation of hunger of poverty in our country. These realities were creatively presented through games such as card board house building, cheers and other activities.

We agreed to choose a girl since we always wanted to have a baby girl. After filling out and submitting the forms, we felt really blessed but what surprised us the most was after two weeks, my pregnancy test came out positive. It was like winning the lottery. My husband and I are now real parents but what I will tell my daughter when she grows up is that before she came, Jackelyn, our sponsor child made us feel fulfilled so we can be better parents for her.
