If I buy a gift on behalf of a friend or relative, how will that person be informed?
You shall be given World Vision greeting cards that you can send to your friends and relatives, informing them that a gift has been given in their name. Alternatively, you can also send and email them a World Vision e-card.
I just sent gift catalogue e-cards to my friend or relative. Why did I receive them?
When you choose to send a gift catalogue e-card, World Vision shall email you a copy of the e-card that was sent to your friend/ relative for your reference or you might also want to be the one to send them directly so that it will come from your own personal inbox.
Can I specify that my gifts be given to my sponsored child?
No. However, by purchasing "Gift for your Sponsored Child's Community", you can give a gift directly to your existing sponsored child's community. Your gift for the community will be pooled together with gifts from other sponsors with children in the same community to provide things like books, toys and sports equipment for the whole community to enjoy. Your name or donor ID will be used to ensure that this special gift is matched with your sponsored child's community.
How are prices determined for items in the Gift Catalogue?
World Vision Philippine's prices for are based on average local prices in the communities it serves or its area development project areas.
What if World Vision raises more funds than expected for a particular item?
In the exceptional case where donations exceed what is needed for a particular item, World Vision will redirect funds to a similar item or program to help people in need.
Livelihood and microfinance loans include the cost of training and tools so that beneficiaries can gain the most benefit from your gift. This ensures that World Vision can help communities bring about sustainable change. With training, families can use the tools and gifts they are given to provide for their children's needs for years to come.
Where does my money go when I purchase a gift?
While the majority of the purchase price goes toward buying and delivering the actual gift item, fundraising and administration costs are also built into the price of each gift in the catalogue. World Vision is an organization you can trust. 80% of gifts to World Vision go directly into programs that help children. 20% goes to fundraising services and administration.
How are Gift Catalogue items selected?
Gift Catalogue items are selected to help families and children meet pressing needs as well as increase household income. For example, a gift of a microfinance loan will ensure that a mother can provide daily necessities for her children, that the family can have a harvest through their own backyard farm, and that the family can have extra money for things like school fees and school uniforms. Additionally, education and other items can help impact more children and the whole community.
Who receives the gifts I purchase?
World Vision works with community leaders to develop a fair system for distributing Gift Catalogue items. Beneficiaries are chosen on the basis of need. Your gift will be part of a larger program in which a number of families and community members receive similar items.
How are the gifts I purchase delivered?
Items that you choose are purchased locally. This ensures the products (for example, food packs) are well-suited to the local environment. Buying locally also helps support the local economy and keeps transportation costs to a minimum.
Are some gift items better than others?
All of the gift items have been carefully selected to meet critical needs in the areas where World Vision works. Every gift is valuable and we leave it up to you to choose which gift you wish to give. You can also choose to give the gift of child sponsorship—providing the essential funding that allows World Vision to take its work to new communities.
