On June 16, the Pag-Aaral ng Bata Para sa Kinabukasan ABK2 Initiative concluded its year-long search for the 2nd Gawad ACLAT (Anti-Child Labor Award for Teachers) winners, at a gala at the Sarossa Hotel in Cebu. Conducted in partnership with the Department of Education, the Gawad ACLAT is a special recognition honoring teachers, adult para-teachers and little teachers who have made remarkable contributions in preventing and eliminating child labor through education. Recognition of Gawad ACLAT awardees coincides and supports activities marking the celebration of World Day Against Child Labor, starting June 14.

As a commitment to help more marginalized Filipino children gain access to education, World Vision launched the campaign, “Count me in!” at the Trinoma Activity Center on June 8, 2001. The “Count me in!” campaign aims to give 11,000 children proper nutrition, opportunities for development and participation, and sustainable livelihood for their communities through World Vision’s child sponsorship.
