Recently, Efren Penaflorida, a World Vision former sponsored child, was nominated for CNN’s Heroes Awards - a citation given to ordinary people who have accomplished extraordinary deeds. It spotlights people who are making a good contribution to society, helping make a difference in the world.
 
The work Efren does championing the cause of children is nothing short of heroism. And it wasn’t long until his work reached halfway around the world and was recognized by nothing less than CNN.  

Through their Dynamic Teen Company, Efren and his friends have been able to mentor former gang members, out-of-school youth and drug addicts giving them a second lease on life. 

"I am doing what I do now because somebody also helped me when I was still young and needing help… parang pay it forward lang ang ginagawa ko," Efren shares.
