What do Pauleen Luna, Janno Gibbs, Sam Milby and Manny Pacquiao have in common? Aside from their celebrity status, they’ve been photographed many times by renowned wedding and entertainment photographer, Jervy Santiago.
But in the midst of all the glitz and glamour of celebrity photography, Jervy takes time off for totally different shots. During his free time, he volunteers with World Vision capturing a reality of the lives of the less fortunate. He explains, “It’s not a question of why I do it… Meron akong natututunan each time I go…”

A child smiles behind Jervy Santiago as he looks for the best shot.
In 2008, he was able to gather other renowned and experienced photographers for the Images of Hope photo shoot and exhibit taken in World Vision’s Area Development Program (ADP) in Leyte. The photographers got the chance to live and experience life in a rural poor community.

Jervy Santiago beautifully captures everyday life in this Baseco community.
Not only is Jervy active in volunteering for community photo shoots, but he and his wife are proud World Vision sponsors since 2000. He shares his World Vision experience, “Armed with only P700 in my pocket, I charged to the mall for a midnight sale. But when I got there I was drawn, instead to a World Vision booth and eventually sponsored a child. I went there looking for a good bargain but with what I spent, I got even more. I left the mall with a child's picture folder and a bigger heart."
In the recent years, Jervy and his wife who have a 3-year old daughter have decided to sponsor another child and actively advocate for World Vision’s cause. To see pictures of the recent Famine photo shoot in Baseco, click here.
